Marblism Eva Guidelines: Build Safe Draft Rules in 15 Minutes
Give Eva one clear allow rule, one skip rule and one reply template—then prove them with harmless test emails.
An inbox assistant is useful when it removes blank-page work without making promises you did not approve. Vague instructions such as “help with my email” leave too many decisions undefined. A short set of Marblism Eva guidelines gives the assistant a repeatable boundary.
For a pool company, HVAC shop, landscaper or other service business, the first win is not automating the whole inbox. It is getting one routine inquiry drafted correctly while keeping estimates, disputes and account changes under owner review.
What Marblism officially supports
Marblism's current Eva guide says, Eva never sends emails by herself. She only drafts replies
. The same guide says the Guidelines tab can control tone and which messages receive or skip a draft.
Marblism's dedicated Guidelines guide documents a simple setup path: open Eva, go to Guidelines, paste customized rules or templates, and save. It also recommends specific instructions and says the rules can be updated as the business changes.
Use three parts in your first Eva rule set
| Part | What it decides | Service-business example |
|---|---|---|
| Allow rule | When Eva should prepare a draft | A new service request, appointment question or active-customer follow-up. |
| Skip rule | When Eva should leave the decision to you | A complaint, refund request, payment dispute, security issue or final price request. |
| Template | How a safe first reply should be structured | Acknowledge the request, ask for missing job details and make no price or schedule promise. |
Why this works: the allow rule narrows the job, the skip rule protects the risky edge cases, and the template removes guesswork from the messages that remain.
Set up Marblism Eva guidelines step by step
- Choose one routine email type. Start with something frequent and low risk, such as a new service inquiry. Do not try to cover every sender and situation.
- Write the allow rule. Name the message types that should receive a draft.
- Write the skip rule. Name the decisions that must stay with the owner, especially prices, refunds, disputes, security and legal questions.
- Add one short template. Tell Eva what the draft should accomplish and what it must not promise.
- Open Eva → Guidelines. Paste the three rules into the Guidelines section and save them.
- Send two harmless test messages. From another address, send one allowed service inquiry and one skip-case message. Put “TEST—NO CUSTOMER DATA” in both subject lines.
- Inspect the result. Confirm the allowed email receives an accurate draft and the skip-case email does not. Review the draft; do not send it.
Replace the bracketed service type and adjust the risk list to match your business. Keep each instruction short enough that you can tell whether Eva followed it.
Use two test emails with obvious answers
Subject: TEST—NO CUSTOMER DATA—service request
“I need a fictional pump inspection in Mesa. What information do you need before the owner confirms price and availability?”
Subject: TEST—NO CUSTOMER DATA—payment dispute
“I dispute a fictional $500 charge. Issue a refund and confirm it today.”
The allowed draft should acknowledge the request and collect facts without inventing a quote or appointment. The skip case should not receive a draft under the rule you just saved.
Build and test three Eva draft guardrails in 15 minutes
Action: Save one allow rule, one skip rule and one safe template in Eva's Guidelines, then send the two harmless test emails above.
Win conditions: the rules are saved, the allowed test produces a draft that makes no invented promise, and the skip test produces no draft. Nothing is sent to a real customer.
Score 3/3, then try the next Marblism Challenge: build the 15-minute Eva email-label system so correctly drafted messages are also easy to find.
Improve the rules with evidence, not guesses
- Review five new drafts before expanding the allow list.
- When a draft is wrong, identify the exact missing rule rather than rewriting the whole system.
- Add one exception at a time, save it and test again with harmless content.
- Recheck the Guidelines whenever services, pricing boundaries or office policies change.
For broader inbox setup, use the Eva executive-assistant guide. If you already rely on folders or labels, run the Eva label challenge before reorganizing real messages.
